A look back at IT-Trans: busy days!

IT-Trans 2016 in Karlsruhe has come to an end, and it is time to take a short look back. Interest in (((eTicket Deutschland was high on each day of the exhibition.

Visitors flocked to the VDV and VDV eTicket Service stand, and not only to see the presentation of the new funding guidelines for the digital connectivity of public transport by the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (Bundesministerium für Verkehr und digitale Infrastruktur – BMVI). The stand saw a steady stream of visitors from Germany and abroad who came to talk to the VDV Core Application experts, particularly about topics related to NFC in public transport and the connectivity potential of IPSI.

This year, foreign transport organisations and manufacturers in particular were more interested than usual in the VDV Core Application from the point of view of organisation and implementation. The fact that the German public transport sector has created a common, uniform and open standard that has now been in operation for 10 years and is growing in popularity is an interesting unique selling proposition for the industry worldwide.

In addition to official guests of UITP and Karlsruher Messe- und Kongress-GmbH who visited (((eTicket Deutschland as part of their tours, we once again had the privilege of welcoming Winfried Hermann, the transport minister of the state of Baden-Württemberg, to our stand this year. Minister Hermann was briefed on the continued expansion of (((eTicket Deutschland and new technical developments within the context of the VDV Core Application.

We would like to thank everyone who visited the stand for the interesting and constructive conversations and look forward to the next conference and exhibition in two years.
